How will a lawyer help with my immigration case?

At Powell Law, we primarily focus on family-based immigration cases. We handle first-time Green Card applications through to the citizenship stage. We are particularly skilled in assisting new clients with difficult family-based Requests for Evidence and Notices of Intent to Deny. Whether we are working with clients from the beginning of their immigration journey or are stepping in mid-stream, here is our process:

  1. We meet with you. Our line of work is fact-specific and heavily impacted by the individual client. This means that Mrs. Powell will sit down with you (virtually or in person), ask you questions about your case and your story, and map out a plan with you.

  2. Sign a contract. Once you and Mrs. Powell come up with a plan, you will both sign a contract, and you will pay the retainer fee.

  3. Case management set-up. In our office, you can either provide your intake forms and documents to us through our online case management portal or you can fill out an intake form by hand/computer and send us the documents via email/mail. We cater our fact-gathering to you and your preferences.

  4. File preparation. Our team carefully and diligently goes through all of your evidence and details before we submit your file. It is important to understand that we do not submit information on your case piece by piece. We compile all of your applications and documents together and send it as one packet. This means that we can only move quickly once we have everything that we have requested for your case.

  5. Review and submission. Mrs. Powell will meet with you (virtually or in person) to review your forms for accuracy. From there, we mail your application to USCIS.

  6. Monitoring your case. Once your case has been submitted to USCIS, you will receive receipts with your Priority Date and receipt number. Together with this information, you can track your case. Powell Law receives duplicate notices and will monitor your case, notify you of updates, and prepare you for an interview, if one is necessary.

  7. Requests for Evidence (RFE). If USCIS issues an RFE, Powell Law will assist in responding in a timely manner.

  8. Interview. If an interview is necessary, Mrs. Powell will set aside time specifically to prepare you. During this time, Mrs. Powell will go through additional documents that you may need to bring and advise you of potential questions that you may be asked.

  9. Celebrate! Powell Law celebrates every client win! We know how important it is when families achieve these milestones and we cheer for every client.

If you would like to consult with Mrs. Powell on your immigration case, give us a call at 757-775-8526. We look forward to hearing from you.
